Putting The Star Trek Soundtrack Down On Fake Paper

I just finished my Lang Arts portfolio. At long last. Good riddance to that thing! Ugh.

Recognize this? No? Hum the notes? It’s what I’ve coined the “Hopeful” theme from the start of Track 15 (End Credits) from the Star Trek soundtrack. Track from Star Trek. Hmm. That sounds like something Yun would say.

Edit: I’ve just realized that “Hopeful” is actually the original Star Trek theme from TOS (I think).

I wish I had one of those direct MIDI input keyboards so I could play it out instead of having to click here click there and fumble my way through MuseScore (a free scoring program – while the UI looks basic at first glance, BEWARE! It’ll trip you up if you’re not careful).

Basically what I’m trying to do is arrange the first minute or so of End Credits, which is Hopeful plus a bit of Star Trek (theme) near the back. Then it fades out and it tricks you and comes back with drums! After that the second part of the song begins, which is when the scrolling credits on black appear.

Hopefully I’ll be able to get all the accompaniment in! Especially when Star Trek comes back in after the second repetition of Hopeful…

Block Tests: Chinese

I think Chinese went better than LA.

I ought to be able to get a decent mark for my compositions, providing I didn’t do what I always do and wrote some characters wrongly. Not sure about Paper 2, because the passages and questions were all deep and flighty Meaning of Life kind of stuff.

My right hand hurts. As I was telling Yong today, I need to learn how to be ambidextrous somehow. Also, Windows Live Writer autolinking is really helpful. Whenever I type Yong it links her, but only once in the entire post. It’s pretty smart! O:

Also, something happened to my left thumb (I dunno, was it a cramp or something?) while I was playing the Killer 30 Octaves of Doom (yes, there are 30 octaves non-stop in the bass line) in my fugue.

Crappy Piano Hooray

Ignore the background noise, especially near the middle. Oh no, the timezone thing on my blog just reset itself. Argh.

For such a simple song, it’s pretty astounding the number of mistakes I make 囧TL I couldn’t be bothered to make a proper recording because it’s just for fun anyway, so as a warning this is below my usual standards. I dunno, just in case someone comes poking here and starts rofling at my piano skillz. Not that I have much though ;__;
